I think redzee.com is a great idea and the zebra is super-cute. It will make searching the net much easier for those that are not ‘text-oriented’. But the fact that they claim to be p*rn free is just plain ridiculous, as you can prove to yourself in three seconds on the site. This makes me very disappointed in the fact that they are marketing to pre-teens and teens. Don’t get me wrong; filtering out immorality is no easy task, and it is a task that, right now, machines cannot do effectively. I will not be relying on it for ’safe search’ anytime soon.

*If you think that just taking away the browser (Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox, etc.) will keep people from browsing the net – you’ve got another thing coming. Better get rid of the default calculator, too. Want the details? Comment this entry.

Interesting fact #1: only three layers of aluminum foil can block cellular signals.
Interesting fact #2: the use of cell phone jammers is a federal offense.
Non-electronic interference is not yet illegal. If you could repanel a room with this special paneling, would you?
Why are schools not in these restricted areas for cell phones?
Can they get around your firewall? Yes, they can.

The most popular way to get around a firewall is to set up what is called a tunnel. To tunnel basically means connecting a computer restricted by a firewall to an unrestricted computer outside the firewall, then using the internet access of the unrestricted computer via the restricted computer. The reason this works is simple; the firewall only sees what the restricted computer is accessing, which in this case is the ip of the unrestricted computer, but it doesn’t see what the unrestricted computer is accessing.
This will not work under the conditions that
- There is only internal access and no external access.
- All sites are blocked except a specific few.
So lock down those ports.

The computer is a fabulous tool. A computer with internet access can be twice as fabulous as long as you take precautions and are very careful.
